A little more…

The last bits of Stockholm

Curly hair on the top and short around. Hello hipster!

Hats! I love hats. It’s just that I live in a very windy city and these are difficult to wear if it’s windy… Believe me, I have tried. And also, love the orange/pink combination. It’s all around and I’m definitely doing it too. I mean, those are the two main colors of my wardrobe…

It is a hat made of wood. It was a collection with several wood details, collars, belts etc, but I wonder how this would work in real life. I would have to try it though, just to feel how it is 🙂

It made me think of Arya Stark and Jon Snow first and then of how much I miss the people in my life who mess my hair up. I’m still alone in Trondheim.

Stockholm fashion week

OK! So I’ll probably be totally hooked on the shows this fall because they will all be in my RSS feed, but since I don’t have the time to re-blog everything I love I’ll give you tiny bits of it all. And this week is fashion week in Stockholm.

Long hair is definitely staying on the scene

Just look at those shades (backstage at Minimarket)

And all the girls at the Rodebejer show had it as well. Love the hats btw.

And from The Local Firm to the gentlemen, caps, shades, denim shirt and slim tie.

I’m starting to think that if I ever were to do anything in this business, it would have to be men’s fashion.

Today

Silk shorts, jacket from Zara, new wonderful yellow bag from Paris and my new silver colored sandals. I’m still very much in love with neon colors

Back!

Ok, so I’ve been back in Norway with a steady Internet connection for more than 24 hours, but there was some sleep to be had, some Internet to catch up on and a friend or two that I had to be quick to see. And I am proud to say that I have read all my e-mails and emptied my Google reader already. Now I only have to respond to the e-mails and start going through my 2000 pictures from this summer. I still haven’t really gone through the pictures from USA and now I have been to a car festival (I’m not the only one liking 2CVs. Look!), I have been to Paris and driven 4500 km. There has never been so much asphalt and so little camp fires in any of my summer holidays before. Before I start the big picture posts, here are some things that I loved in my Google reader:

“I drink it when I’m happy and when I’m sad.
Sometimes I drink it when I’m alone.
When I have company I consider it obligatory.
I trifle with it if I’m not hungry and I drink it when I am.
Otherwise I never touch it, unless I’m thirsty.”

Comment: my dad bought Dom Perignon for me to celebrate my good grades this semester 🙂 I’m so spoiled.

Bold patterns inspired by traditional weaving is made modern and almost looks like pixels.

The first generation of TV  and computer games nerds are old enough to be inspired by it in their designs. And also, things move fast in fashion, just as they do in computer science.

And the colours. I love them. I will show you my bright yellow bag or bright pink dress later, but just colours.

This is the kind of TV I want.

I have been shopping this summer, naturally since I have been to Boston, New York and Paris, but also as I have travelled maybe a bit too much most of the shopping I’ve done has been for others. And not that I have bought things for others, but I have been assisting others shopping. And therefore I have been looking more at men’s fashion than I normally do. Yesterday for instance, I suddenly found myself doing sock shopping. And I must admit that colourful socks are a great way for men to be a bit daring and still have a normal day job. What do you think of these? An ordinary blue suit and black shoes, a blue shirt and then a pair of bright red socks. Looks stylish and young and suddenly not so boring 🙂

This last frame is for Erik and his new pink shirt. You see the likeness? I’m not the biggest fan of tartan, mostly because I’m starting to get bored of it, but still it can be really nice. Like this 🙂

Dresses!

I bought three new dresses while in the US, but I only have pictures of one of them here. But I also brought all the three dresses I bought in Germany this Easter, so it was a week filled with wonderful dresses 🙂 I had some time alone in Brookline just outside of Boston and stumbled upon a wonderful shop with the most amazing dresses. They had a sale and I tried on tons and had the best time. I took pictures of most of them, just so you can see. I bought one of these 😉

Can you guess which I bought?

Outfits and more travels

So I’m back from the United States, but I’m leaving tomorrow, so today is only sleeping, eating and packing. But I thought I’d put out some outfit pictures and then I’ll see what I can do with the rest.

The trip was wonderful, epic, soul healing.

New silk shorts from Juicy Couture, simple top from NoaNoa and pumps from Paco Gil (notice the grey, wool details)

New pair of shorts from Banana Republic, orange laquered belt from D&G and a striped Zara basic top

Dress from H&M

My new Fendi shades

The Marc by Marc Jacobs dress. I wore it at the Met (the opera in NYC) with the same black pumps.

White strapless dress bought in Germany this easter.

Loose fitting, nitted, see through tee from BikBok, it’s sort of shiny sand colored.

My new Stine Goya jacket with the most amazing zipper details works really well with the champagne colored dress.

Tangerine

Ok, so, I spent quite a bit of money last week on clothes. I blame the fact that I haven’t been out shopping for two months because before I knew it, I had spend more money than I had planned. I am an eager follower of British Vogue and have been since 2003. And while surfing their site during my luch hours, I found this article on tangerine (spicy orange) in their Fashion Trends section. And while looking at the pictures, suddenly my dress pops out. My dress! The dress that I bought last week. I have actually bought a dress that was on the runway. I just had to smile. Especially because it was the first thing I saw when I walked into the shop and when I put it on all the people in the shop stopped and stared.  It is lovely and it looks like this:

Since this is the runway model of the dress, my dress differ in some tiny details, but still. It is vowen linen and silk and I can’t wait to wear it.

Men’s fashion

It’s all about men’s fashion in all the fashion blogs these days. And I must say, there are a lot of pretty things out there. Loving the colors, bow ties, patterns and the tailored look. This is from Guerre.

I have promised myself there will be shopping this week. Going to go try on a new backpack and maybe more cameras, but mostly I will be on the look-out for dresses, shoes, jackets and hats.

Hvitt

Bare for å kompensere.

Kildehenvisningsfrik? Jeg? Neida…)

Wardrobe

If you have followed my blog since before my camera shut down in April, you will know that I am a girl with a medium sized wardrobe with aspirations to be a girl with a walk in closet. I need enough space to store all my shoes in one place (not three as I do now), I need better shelves and enough hanging space for my dresses.

Because you can never have too many dresses.

And while going through my must-read-list on the internet I found my dream wardrobe at Tales of endearment. Just look

I want order and enough room for everything. Right now I keep my pretty shoes in boxes so they don’t get too dusty, but I want this. Someday.

And DRESSES. All colors and patterns and shapes.

Look at this. A whole room. A sofa for your friends and just to gaze at all the beauty. The worst part about this is that the girl who owns this wardrobe is my age. Definitely need to start working on the contents of my walk in closet 😉

Haircut!

When I went to high school, I had short hair and went to the hair dresser every two months. But after I moved and started studying, I really couldn’t afford all this and now I go maybe twice a year. And today was the day. I cut my hair last during Christmas so it was time. Now that I’m saving for longer hair, it doesn’t look that different, but I love the feeling of “new” hair. You feel like an improved version of yourself.

And after a hair cut, delivering my bicycle for a full make over (new tires, brake wires, general grooming etc) and ordering a new backpack at a store for testing, this turned out to be a really great morning. It might also have something to do with my new alarm clock from Boston 🙂

PS: I’m wearing my favorite silk blouse today. And cut off denim shorts. Love the combo.

Saving

You know my best method of saving money? Being so busy that I don’t have time to go shopping. Not even window shopping, because I literally only spend time at the office and in my bed, sleeping. This is what I would have bought, had I had the time to roam the shops:

And a nice pair of colorful, chunky, high heels

And a dead tough jacket like this one

or this one (both Burberry)

I think it is wise that I don’t have time to stop by that part of town with the shops that deal Burberry and that I rather spend my time working and earning some money…

For the gentlemen

I am really into fashion, but I don’t follow the trends constantly. And I like more to find things that suits my form than the fashions. As I have written before, I help friends go shopping now again when they need something new. And as I am quite the observer (at least when it comes to fashion) I also have an eye out for the gentlemen. I know a guy or two who might have use for some inspiration.

All the pictures are from Guerreisms. This is for the guy who wants to look decent, but not boring. Who wouldn’t mind an edge to his look. If you don’t feel as comfortable with hats, ties or preppy clothing as these do, see it a detail or two could turn your look. (and ask me if you want to 😉 )

Hat, double buttoned jacket, suspenders, bow-tie, high waist.

Contrast between suspenders, tie and shirt. Tie clip as a fine detail.

You don’t need strict lines and suits to look stylish. And colour has never hurt anyone.

Colours, details, match or don’t.

Combine patterns as here with checkered pocket square and striped tie.

You don’t have to look like a peacock, but jeans and sweat shirt will grow old in the end.

Shoe love on a Sunday

When you are all alone in the office on a Sunday and you have lunch brake, you need to do something. And www.vogue.co.uk is always pleased to help pass your time.

Today I was inspired by their 50 best shoes of the season-list. So I chose my favorite 8 out of it. I am clearly longing for colour, heels and some edge, yet not too much. Had I only had 300£ to spare for a pare of shoes, all would be well… I won’t include the names of all the designers, since it is more for inspiration, but I recommend vogue.co.uk 🙂

These are the classical satin pumps I have been looking for for more than two years. So close, yet so far.

One of Tori Burches famous ballerina pumps. I need a pair of bright pink shoes!

Perfect sandals for a summer dress or to dress up a pair of shorts and a plain shirt for a BBQ party.

The cutest sandals.

These are so cool! Though, but elegant and a wonderful colour. Love them.

These are the other pair of pumps I have been looking for, the pair of perfect red pumps. I wonder if I’ll ever find them. Of whell, I’ll just have to keep searching (maybe it will help when I actually have time to go shopping).

I love the shape of these. They really give an edge to any outfit and the blue is so pretty.

The ultimate power sandals for summer.

This was on one of their Cannes shopping list and I fell in love instantly. I have said before that I have a starting crush on Jil Sander and this is just my shade of choral (anyone how has seen me the last six months will agree) and it would be a perfect second black tie dress. But it costs 1335£ so I will not think of it again (only dream of it).

I promise myself that when I’m finished studying, I will buy something intensely beautiful and overprized for myself with my first salary.

Sol

Skitt fiske!

Sun!

It’s not that many day ago that I posted pictures of the last snow and yesterday I spent a couple of hours on the veranda enjoying the sun with bare legs and a hat to give me shade. Things are happening so quickly now, flowers are popping up everywhere and the sun just keeps shining and shining.

I went to the opera yesterday, to hear a little concert with some of the academic choirs from Oslo and Trondheim. They had the concert out on the roof (which is a normal spot for a concert, actually) and it was just wonderful. The sun was shining, I met a lot of old acquaintances and had some wonderful red wine on the terrace. And then we went home and had sushi and champagne as a night snack. I love being home. Good food, good weather and good people.

Tonight I’ll be going to Germany and then there won’t be any blogging going on. And my camera is broken, but I haven’t had time to get it fixed, so I won’t have any pictures for a while. But here are some randoms for you:

I have done this myself, eaten very cheap food to be able to buy Vogue.

I’d really like these boots from Guiseppe Zanotti, but they are, as always, a tiny bit out of my league…

The t-shirt for me, right now.

I LOVE this bracelet/cuff, it is a giant fly! A perfect combination of biology and fashion 🙂

Bursdagsgave 1

Evt Lars Vaular 😉

Third hand 2.0

I really am quite the creative type, I just keep expressing other sides of me. But one thing I like, but never give myself time to do, is sewing and such. I wrote about some of my projects in my old blog, and now I have started to work on another project. I once bought a jacket, but I didn’t really like it, so I have never worn it. And in stead of throwing it away or giving it to someone else, I thought I might try to re-do it. But jackets are difficult things, especially those with lining so I have been doing muck thinking and not that much sewing.

This week I started to alter the jacket and I will post pictures later, but first I thought I’d post some of my “inspiration pictures”. They are all from net-a-porter.com except the last one, which is from a blog I don’t remember the name of. As you can see, it is a uniform jacket of some sort.

I like the defined shoulders of this one, but I realize that to do this without any experience is almost impossible.

My jacket also has some gold details, I wonder if I should add some more.

I’m also thinking about adding a band in the back, but I’m also thinking of shortening it, so I’ll see.

I don’t like how it looks in the front, and wonder if it should be possible to close it or not.

This is nice, with the band and everything, but longer than mine.

The jacket has epaulettes and I wonder if I should keep them or not.

And it is double buttoned, but  I’m really too short for that (it makes you look short and wide), so I might rearrange that.

Red is such a good contrast, I think I have some ribbons I might add.

This looks very much like my jacket.

Different variations of closing the jacket.

I really like her jacket. Especially the yellow details and the short arms. But how do you shorten arms and make them look good? And I want a skirt like that 🙂

Spring?

There is something in the air. And there is just more and more light. Soon we’ll even reach summer time and then suddenly it will be light all day round. Can’t wait!

New green bag, pink (!) leather gloves, fake shades and glorious sunshine.

I love the silhouette.

My ever faithful shirtdress, this time with electric orange D&G belt, grey merino cardigan from H&M (men section) and my lovely Borsalino

I just love that hat. It is actually 50 years old and I am the first owner. Bought it when one hat store had bought the storage of another hat store here in town. The hat had been sitting on a shelf forever so I rescued it.

A cardigan do dress down a party dress for day.

Need to spice up your life with some colour.

My dad’s old shirt with my purple leather belt, a hat and a nice pair of boots and you’re all set.

Fashion Consultant

I am a sensible fashion follower, if there is such a thing. I love pretty clothes and shoes and I like dressing up, but I still don’t buy everything I find pretty and I try not to buy two of the same thing. And I don’t mean by two of the same sweater, but that I try not to have three dresses that all go to the same occasion. I want a diverse wardrobe, that I always have something for the occasion. I know a lot of people that couldn’t care less about what they wear or what’s in fashion and who hate shopping. Mostly they hate shopping because they never find anything and because it is exhausting and takes time. So I’ve started to offer my services as a fashion consultant for friends.

What do I do? Mostly I go shopping with them. They tell me what they are looking for and I help them find something they love in a short time. I can also help go through a wardrobe and find out what should be tossed and what kind of statement pieces that should be acquired for the wardrobe to work better with you life.

I don’t really take money for my work yet, but I usually get lunch or something similar as thanks. I can help with everything you need, from black tie and formal, to new jeans to an assortment of dresses. I usually need occasion and some prize limits, but the rest is magic 🙂 I don’t force people into being super fashionable or anything, my main principle is that you should never buy anything unless you absolutely love it. I am a great believer in timeless pieces and buying pieces that will stay with you for a long time.

So if you are ever in need for some company or help shopping, just ask 🙂
