I have borrowed this from “guidelines on spiritual and religious development” made by the world scout organisation. It is partly based on the scout law. I truly believe if we all tried to live like this, we would be able to create a better world.
A Scout is able to get along with and WELCOME others
• A Scout is able to welcome and respect others as brothers and sisters, while acknowledging differences in their religions, cultures, and ethnic groups
• A Scout is able to listen to others and to their experiences before making judgements about them
• A Scout is able to show compassion for the needs and humanity of others
A Scout understands and can WONDER at the natural world
• A Scout is sensitive to the wonders of nature and life
• A Scout is aware of the threats to the natural environment and his/her impact on the world around him
• A Scout is able to act responsibly in responding to the world around him/her
• A Scout is able to recognise that the natural world shows him something that is beyond himself/herself (a spiritual reality)
A Scout WORKS to create a more tolerant and caring society
• A Scout plays an active role in his/her community
• A Scout is able to share responsibility
• A Scout is able to cooperate with others to bring about improvements in society
• A Scout is able to discern and develop talents, acquire and improve his/her skills to enable him/her to better serve and live
A Scout has WISDOM: self-confidence and self-discipline
• A Scout is able to accept responsibility for his/herself and others
• A Scout is able to exercise self-discipline
• A Scout is able to draw conclusions for their personal life and to act upon them
A Scout recognises the need for prayer and WORSHIP*, for a spiritual response
• A Scout is able to explore the spiritual heritage of his or her own community and to use it in making sense of their past and present experiences
• A Scout is able to draw on the spiritual heritage of his or her community to express gratitude, need and sorrow
*Worship: The term “worship” does not quite say what we want to, but it does provide a way of remembering this aspect of spiritual development.
Hjem kjære hjem or Home sweet home is a play witch is on Samfundet at the moment. I went to see it a week ago and I just have to recommend it. It is originally a Danish play and is played for the first time in Norway here at Samfundet.
So, hjem kjære hjem is about a young man and soldier returning from Afghanistan to Norway after being stationed there for a while. It portraits an evening at dinner at his friends and his girlfriends home. It is a psychological drama that shows the human aspect of the war in Afghanistan and how us back home react and think about the issue and how the soldiers handle the situation of being in a war and not at the same time.
The play was only one hour and 15 min long, but it was really intense and it sort of kicked you in the head. It forced you to think about what war really is, how we interact with those that go to war on our behalf and made me think about what I really think about this issue. I know several boys my age that have been in Afghanistan and I am really relieved that my brother will not go there. Another issue is how we help those that have fought in a war. How do we support them and help them back into ordinary life bak home?
If you have time, go see the play! Theater is good for you.
PS: I saw another play at Samfundet, Closer, some weeks ago. It is the original play that the movie Closer is based on. I really recommend the movie 😉
I really am quite the creative type, I just keep expressing other sides of me. But one thing I like, but never give myself time to do, is sewing and such. I wrote about some of my projects in my old blog, and now I have started to work on another project. I once bought a jacket, but I didn’t really like it, so I have never worn it. And in stead of throwing it away or giving it to someone else, I thought I might try to re-do it. But jackets are difficult things, especially those with lining so I have been doing muck thinking and not that much sewing.
This week I started to alter the jacket and I will post pictures later, but first I thought I’d post some of my “inspiration pictures”. They are all from net-a-porter.com except the last one, which is from a blog I don’t remember the name of. As you can see, it is a uniform jacket of some sort.
I like the defined shoulders of this one, but I realize that to do this without any experience is almost impossible.
My jacket also has some gold details, I wonder if I should add some more.
I’m also thinking about adding a band in the back, but I’m also thinking of shortening it, so I’ll see.
I don’t like how it looks in the front, and wonder if it should be possible to close it or not.
This is nice, with the band and everything, but longer than mine.
The jacket has epaulettes and I wonder if I should keep them or not.
And it is double buttoned, but I’m really too short for that (it makes you look short and wide), so I might rearrange that.
Red is such a good contrast, I think I have some ribbons I might add.
This looks very much like my jacket.
Different variations of closing the jacket.
I really like her jacket. Especially the yellow details and the short arms. But how do you shorten arms and make them look good? And I want a skirt like that 🙂
English: I made a very simple risotto with things I had in my pantry, but it still turned out good.
Smoked salmon can be used for almost anything. I bought a piece that I sliced myself and some of it went into my dinner. The rest I use on my breakfast and lunch sandwiches. Mmmm.
I am a sucker for simple and tasty dinner and often make variations of the same things over and over. But I don’t like eating the exact same thing many days in a row, so I try to avoid that.
All my cravings at the moment; spinach, green olives, tomatoes and smoked salmon. First, boil pasta, put the heat down, add the spinach, let defrost. Den add all the rest, stir and eat 🙂
Please exuse my use of a big bowl for my dinner, but I don’t have any deep bowls in my apartment and I often eat sitting on my bed and then I don’t want to spill any food. So I use a big bowl for baking in stead. But you should absolutely make this for dinner. It is so good and so simple, I promise!
Pasta and salmon and spinach and tomatoes are the best.
There is something in the air. And there is just more and more light. Soon we’ll even reach summer time and then suddenly it will be light all day round. Can’t wait!
New green bag, pink (!) leather gloves, fake shades and glorious sunshine.
I love the silhouette.
My ever faithful shirtdress, this time with electric orange D&G belt, grey merino cardigan from H&M (men section) and my lovely Borsalino
I just love that hat. It is actually 50 years old and I am the first owner. Bought it when one hat store had bought the storage of another hat store here in town. The hat had been sitting on a shelf forever so I rescued it.
A cardigan do dress down a party dress for day.
Need to spice up your life with some colour.
My dad’s old shirt with my purple leather belt, a hat and a nice pair of boots and you’re all set.
Stolen from the great depths of the Internet that has no source:
Kelsey Grammer can end a 15 year marriage by phone,
Larry King can be on divorce #9,
Britney Spears had a 55 hour marrige,
Jesse James and Tiger Woods, while married, were having sex with EVERYONE,
53% of Americans get divorced and 30-60% cheat on their spouses.
Yet, same-sex marriage is going to destroy the institution of marriage?
Really?
(I love the punch line. You don’t need to be gay to see that this is racism. Racism is making different rules for different people. And to fight it is easy to do yourself. Start by stopping to use swearwords that describe a group of humans.)
I used to read a lot of comics when I still lived at home, but comics are expensive and I buy other things instead. But I also read a lot of comics online. A friend has a comic feed online that gathers all the comics he has specified in one page. Genius.
So because I have been sick for a couple of days and nothing has happened (not even all the things that should have happened) I will share some assorted comics with you.
I am a sensible fashion follower, if there is such a thing. I love pretty clothes and shoes and I like dressing up, but I still don’t buy everything I find pretty and I try not to buy two of the same thing. And I don’t mean by two of the same sweater, but that I try not to have three dresses that all go to the same occasion. I want a diverse wardrobe, that I always have something for the occasion. I know a lot of people that couldn’t care less about what they wear or what’s in fashion and who hate shopping. Mostly they hate shopping because they never find anything and because it is exhausting and takes time. So I’ve started to offer my services as a fashion consultant for friends.
What do I do? Mostly I go shopping with them. They tell me what they are looking for and I help them find something they love in a short time. I can also help go through a wardrobe and find out what should be tossed and what kind of statement pieces that should be acquired for the wardrobe to work better with you life.
I don’t really take money for my work yet, but I usually get lunch or something similar as thanks. I can help with everything you need, from black tie and formal, to new jeans to an assortment of dresses. I usually need occasion and some prize limits, but the rest is magic 🙂 I don’t force people into being super fashionable or anything, my main principle is that you should never buy anything unless you absolutely love it. I am a great believer in timeless pieces and buying pieces that will stay with you for a long time.
So if you are ever in need for some company or help shopping, just ask 🙂
So, the guy I’m sharing a fridge with has this thing for Cottage Cheese. And after seeing the Cottage Cheese can every time I open the fridge for a couple of weeks I could no longer resist and bought myself one as well. On the can it says that you can use it for almost anything (but so says the marsmellows bag, and that you can’t trust) and I started trying it for this and that.
What you see here is leftover tortilla, cheese schnitzel from Firstprice, peppers, tomatoes, cottage cheese, blue cheese, salt and pepper.
It was actually quite good! But without the blue cheese the taste would have been quite dull. Maybe some chili would have been nice?
What do you use cottage cheese for? Do you put it in your dinner or something else? I have used it in enchiladas before, but maybe that was just my cooking teacher who was a bit eager. My mom eats it with jam, but I have no idea what other people use it for. Please share 🙂
I Norge tror folk at speidere bare går rundt i skogen.
